Windows Phone 7 app submissions are a go, now for everyone
7 Nov
Though already open for early registrants, as of this week Microsoft has unbarred the floodgates for Windows Phone 7 app submissions from all developers. Full details and instructions can be found at the official App Hub, but if you’re just curious about the experience overall, WP7 dev Adam Nathan — who’s reportedly submitted 30 through the system already — outlines what he sees is the good, bad, and ugly of the process (literally). Face it, if you ever want to see your app on the Venue Pro, this is the gateway you must pass.

Apple: Game Center Not Coming to iPhone 3G
8 Set
Apple’s new Game Center page lists the iOS devices that will let you get involved in this whole playing games withother people thing that’s happening soon. Second-generation iPod Touch owners: you’re in luck! iPhone 3G owners: you’re not!
Game Center, which will be arriving with the imminent iOS 4.1 update, will allow users to join up with friends to do battle in epic cathedrals and elsewhere—unless, of course, you’re still riding around on an iPhone 3G, in which case you’re stuck flinging Angry Birds by yourself.
The second-gen iPod Touch has a slightly beefier processor, which could have something to do with it, but at this point Apple’s stance is painfully clear: iPhone 3G is old and busted.

Apple claims 50 percent of portable gaming market, iPod touch “outsells Nintendo and Sony combined”
1 Set
Nintendo famously called Apple the enemy of the future in the video gaming space, and by golly, it looks like the Japanese giant was right; Steve Jobs just told an audience that the iPod touch alone outsells Nintendo’s DS and Sony’s PlayStation Portable combined, worldwide. How many games iPod touch users actually play and for how long wasn’t discussed, but Jobs said 1.5 billion "games and entertainment" apps have been downloaded — again, on the iPod touch alone, never mind all those iPhones.
